Spoken For - ORC Thanksgiving

Each year, Spoken For collects over 500 baskets of food to take to inner-city South Dallas to be given out to families the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The baskets are filled with everything needed to feed a family of eight on Thanksgiving. The baskets are filled by local churches throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Volunteers are needed to load baskets in trucks on the Thursday and Friday before they are given to families. The greatest need for volunteers is on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. On this day, individuals and families of all ages travel down to South Dallas to the Operation Relief Center for an incredible day of serving and fellowshipping with the families who come to receive their baskets of food. Operation Relief Center is a non-profit Christian outreach center located in South Dallas, on the corner of Grand and Harwood. The center provides clothing, food, counseling, housing and more for families who live in South Dallas.

SERVING OPPORTUNITY...

When: Saturday, November 22nd

What:
We will meet at Operation Relief Center in South Dallas at 10am. On this day, we will pick up 500 Turkeys and 500 pies from the local Minyard’s and organize the 500 baskets. Families from South Dallas begin lining up at 11am and volunteers will help carry baskets of food and clothing to cars. Everyone will get an opportunity to talk and share with each other. We will have a free lunch for all volunteers. We conclude the day at 2pm. The area is fenced in and is very safe. We will also have a food pantry, clothing pantry and light projects for everyone to help with.

If you have a special skill (juggling, face painting, singing, etc.) please let us know so we can use your skills to touch the lives of the people who God will bring to the center that day. We are especially looking for photographers and students who like to make videos.

Volunteers can come for 30 minutes, an hour, or for everything we are doing. We need big smiles, great attitudes, and working hands.
